Free Crochet Pattern – Easy Ripple Dishcloth
Easy Ripple Dishcloth – Free Crochet Pattern

This easy dishcloth crochet pattern is so cute! Made with durable and washable cotton yarn, these are the perfect beginner project. This is also the first pattern I wrote!
Any time I need a quick gift or easy project to take on the go, I grab some 100% cotton yarn and make dishcloths. Everyone uses them, you can’t have too many, and there are so many fun colors. Some of my favorite cotton yarns are:
- Lily Sugar’n Cream
- Peaches and Creme
- I Love This Cotton Yarn
Dishcloths are also a great way to learn new stitches. Instead of making swatches that I just have to frog later, I love to make a dishcloth to practice any new stitch. It’s like a freebie!
What You’ll Need
- 1 Skein Peaches & Creme Cotton Yarn in Royal (Also pictured in Strawberry)
- 5mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle / Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
- Tape measure (optional)

Skill Level – Beginner / Easy
Finished measurements: approximately 7.5” x 7.5”
This pattern can be adjusted in size by chaining any multiple of 6+1. I prefer a smaller dishcloth, but a starting chain of 37 will give you a slightly larger (~9”) cloth.
Gauge is not important to the pattern.
After row 1, all stitches are worked in the back loop only.
Pattern Key
- ch = chain
- st = stitch(es)
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- yo = yarn over
- BLO = back loop only
- t = turn

Let’s go!
Ch 31
Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook *sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc*. Repeat from * to * across, ending on a sc in the last st.
Row 2: ch 2, t. In BLO, *dc, hdc, sc, sc, hdc, dc* repeat across, ending with a dc in the last st.
Row 3: ch 1, t. In BLO, *sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc* repeat across, ending with a sc in the last st.
Repeat rows 2-3 until the dishcloth is square or reaches desired length.
I did a total of 19 rows to achieve a 7.5”x7.5” square.
Happy Crocheting! <3 Emily
